UPDATED August 10, 2013
Well, life keeps changing–that is the only constant. Having started a new blog at snapgreatphotos.com where I post a lesson in iPhon(e)ography every day, I’ve found I don’t have enough time to continue doing daily posts on this blog. So, I’m cutting back to once a week on Sunday morning.
UPDATED March 11, 2012
I’ve started to think about changing my blog name because it appears we’re going to be staying in one place for a while. I tend to write mostly about three things these days: photography, hang gliding, and Tisen (a rescue dog who claimed us). The overarching theme, if I had to pick one, is learning. I play at being both student and teacher in life and I tend to pay close attention to what I’m learning and how I’m learning. I try not to dive too deeply into the tech talk of photography, but to try to share more about my own learning process. Same with hang gliding. Tisen has become a subject of both still photos and videos and I include at least one shot of Tisen in every post for good measure.
What you can expect from my blog currently is a 500 word or less post with photos and/or video every day at 6AM New York time. My photos are sometimes decent and sometimes bad, but when they’re the topic of my post, I take a “learn with me” sort of approach. I think my posts are often hilarious. I’m not sure anyone else does. 🙂
ORIGINAL:
Life is always busy. We go day to day doing the things we need to do to just live and forget about the dreams we had and the things we wanted to achieve as time rushes by. Restlessness bubbles to the surface in occasional swells and every once in a while, breaks through, motivating us to action. My husband and I decided to take action to combat boredom with the same-old by seeing the things we wanted to see and I decided to write about it. In the end, this blog is about finding meaning in life in our small way and sharing the experience of living. We are choosing a nomadic lifestyle, moving from one place to another to experience different parts of North America. At the same time, I work for a large corporation and continue to function in a mainstream sort of way–I have a job, health insurance, etc. If you’re curious about what it’s like to not be settled for long, well, so am I. This is our journey.

Enjoy reading about your journey… It’s interesting how seeing someone you know follow their dreams (in spite of the constant tug of the mundane and the mainstream), reminds you that you have permission to explore and follow your own. And, that you never really needed permission to begin with! Thanks for the great storytelling… Look forward to more…
Tell me more, tell me more!
Renate enjoyes to read your Blog.

I would like to read some stories about some of your adventures and where you guys have been before Chatanooga. Also just abut what all you want in life, leasons learned. Anything.
Well, I’ll see what I can work in. Unfortunately, there are a lot of topics that are off limits for me right now. Maybe some day. 🙂
I understand. I like to read about those things but its ok
Well, your request got me writing about my mom last night (today’s post). Probably wasn’t what you had in mind, but I appreciated the catharsis. 🙂
oh I would love to read it! I hadn’t checked your blog yet today.
Since we are nomads ourselves, I can relate to that need to wander. 🙂
I am jealous–we have done too little wandering! 🙂
Once you’ve got it, it’s always in the blood, isn’t it? 🙂
I think so–I start to get serious wanderlust when I haven’t gone anywhere for too long.
Only those that have it seem to understand. 🙂
I know exactly how it feels of moving from one place to another. Though restless to others who love settling in one place, the joy of newly found place, new environment, new faces, of friends, neighbors to add your list, new dream, and new themes for photography totally counts the most.
Every new experience seems to create more new experiences. I guess it comes down to how much you enjoy change. 🙂 Thanks for commenting–hopefully I’ll be getting out and about more soon!
